Welcome to Anderson Hill Homestead
Figuring out the ins and outs of running a small functional homestead through gardening, raising animals, and DIY living. Homesteading in Missouri is great. I love to share what we do!

Why did we decide to homestead in Missouri?
To start, the world is a crazy place right now and I am one of MANY people who have decided it’s time to learn all the skills so we don’t get left behind. I am a mom of four amazing children and a large portion of why we chose homesteading in Missouri is because of them. Be sure to subscribe to our email list where I will be sending out weekly tips and tricks and lessons learned.

Welcome to the Anderson Hill Homestead, where we excitedly share our journey to homesteading in Missouri along with all that we learn in the process in gardening, raising animals, and DIY projects.

Our homestead in Missouri is not perfect, but it’s perfect for us
My husband, Jeff and I have been married for 11 years and spent the first 10 years of our marriage in Colorado (mostly in the suburbs). In 2021 we uprooted our family and moved to a small, quaint town in Missouri where we bought a 2 acre property with a modest 1970’s home. I would have loved to find the perfect farmhouse amongst lots of acreage, but this house felt like home. Our home came with an amazing 4 bay garage/shop, a fire pit, and raised garden beds. It’s the perfect setup to start what we hope will become a much larger scale homestead.

We will take you around the property through each stage and update you through the process.
What experience do we have?
I grew up in a rural town in Northern Colorado. I lived in city limits but always wanted to be out in the country like my friends. I spent the last decade between my hometown and a suburb of Denver, CO. I truly feel that I’m not a city girl and the slower pace of country living is what I need.
I grew up in a blue collar family, my dad was a tattoo artist and my mom ran a daycare. I learned early on that life skills would be important. I spent my young adult life figuring out things like finances, budgeting, and auto mechanics through trial and error. I’ve never been a fan of cooking or baking but am quickly coming around to see the benefit of such skills. All those years of trial and error have benefitted me well in my adulthood.
I love DIY and updating a space while keeping some of it’s character. Gardening and growing our food has also become a recent passion. Learning how to grow, preserve, and store our food has become really fun and I love sharing that process.
You can always find me keeping busy, I’m not very good at sitting still. Weather it be tending to the cats (5), chickens (16), dogs (3), or kids (4), I always have a task at hand.

We have officially been in Missouri more than one year. Follow along with our family’s daily happenings on our Instagram page
